For Children & Adults
Orthodontics for Children
It's best for an orthodontist to see children by age 7 to determine if treatment is necessary. The first permanent molars and incisors have usually come in by that time and crossbites, crowding, and other problems can be evaluated. When treatment begins early, the orthodontist can guide both the growth of the jaws and incoming permanent teeth. Early treatment can also regulate the width of the upper and lower dental arches, gain space for permanent teeth, avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions, reduce the likelihood of impacted permanent teeth, correct thumb-sucking, and eliminate abnormal swallowing or speech problems. In other words, early treatment can simplify and possibly eliminate later treatment.
We believe that early treatment can provide the optimal results in many cases. Dr. O'Grady has treated thousands of young children with early treatment saving their parents the time and money for tooth extractions or jaw surgery. The results are often life changing for children.
Orthodontics for Adults
Many adults are taking advantage of the new, technological breakthroughs in orthodontics. Today, metal braces are much smaller and less noticeable. Additionally, clear braces are available that are even less conspicuous. These new types of braces are easy to speak with and more comfortable.
For adults wanting even more convenience, we specialize in Invisalign® clear plastic, removable aligners. Straightening your teeth couldn't be easier and the best part is no one will know you're wearing them.
Our adult patients have learned that wearing braces over a period of time has been easy to work into their busy lives. We use the latest technology with our brackets and wires, which keeps the number of appointments to a minimum. Our flexible scheduling works well with adults. We offer appointments at all hours of the day to accommodate work schedules.
